Good Day For Overgrown Limb Surgeries

First up, Huang Chunsai, a 31 year old Chinese man, is recovering after having part of his 23 kg (about 50 pounds) facial tumor removed. Before the surgery, Chunsai had trouble seeing, hearing and eating as well as living a normal life. He will have to go under the knife again to remove the other parts of this record-breaking facial growth.

Next we have another Chinese man who is the record holder for the largest hand. Recently, 24 year old Liu Hua arrived for his second surgery to reduce the size of his left thumb, index and middle finger which grew at a faster rate than the other two fingers. During the first surgery on July 20th doctors removed 5.1kg of flesh and bone in the 7-hour procedure. Hua will need to go in later for surgery on his left arm and shoulder.

With An IQ Of 104, I’m Smarter Than You

Ok so this IQ test is available online and it mainly involves deciphering visual puzzles. At first it is a piece of cake. But the ones near the end are real brain-busters. Block out some time to get through this, they give you 40 minutes to solve 39 puzzles. Good luck and post your scores in the comments. Bet you don’t have a higher IQ than me.

Yummy LoremIpscream

LoremIpscream.com Logo

You scream, I scream, we all scream for LoremIpscream.com? Because using a regular lorem ipsum generator is so dull these days, Matt Thompson created a site to spice things up a bit. Besides offering the standard vanilla flavor of dummy text, Lorem Ipscream offers a variety of other mashed-up, random bits including the inaugural addresses of every president and about 23,000 punk and emo song lyrics. Clicking the same flavor produces different results each time. How valuable the random bits of text are may be another question entirely.

Why do we need this? Matt claims “it is essentially just a tool, the performance art aspect will come with how the community of web developers, hackers, and general lurkers use it.” I may not understand it to the fullest, but it sure is a delicious design just like Matt’s site.

Leopard Seals Up Close

National Geographic is known for its amazing wildlife photography. Last November they had a special on Leopard Seals and the pictures blew me away. Check these out:

Leopard Seal Mouth

Leopard Seal Rips Head Off Penguin

Wow. Who knew Leopard Seals could be so fierce. Caption from the photo:

In a death shake, the large female shreds a penguin chick by whipping it from side to side. It took 1/2000 of a second to freeze the action; at the time all I saw was a splash and storm petrels and gulls gathering for scraps. This efficient killing machine prizes above all else penguin stomachs stuffed with krill.

So A Lamb Walks Into A Shoe Store…

Lamb With 7 Legs

… and asks if they have 7 pairs of shoes for sale! That’s right, this lamb was born with 7 legs; 1 short of a spider. Unfortunately, it was also born with a partial bowel and would have to be destroyed. I suppose it would be inhumane to let the thing live anyways.

Feel free to leave all of your “leg of lamb” jokes in the comments section.

USB Keyboard Bra by Angel Kitty ($130)

Oh those wacky Japanesse, coming up with the weirdest things. This USB keyboard bra actually might be a good idea to get computer nerds to spend more time with their not-so-techie significant others. Kitty costume not included.

This Blog is 2 Months Old

My first post was posted on May 27th, which means I have been keeping up this blog for two months. All of my other personal blogs would have been long dead by this time, as most blogs probably end up. I think it is because I spent a lot of time setting up my own look and learning the inner workings of WordPress, which is a lot of fun.

In my first post I said I would try to post at least two posts a week. I have gone far above that rate averaging about 11 posts a week or 1.57 posts a day. Maybe I underestimated my blogging ability. Here are some other stats for those interested in the behind the scenes of my blog:

Most Popular Post: Russell Heimlich Simpsons Style
Page Views: 917
I have no idea why this particular post became so popular but the traffic is coming from DownloadSquad.com where I posted a comment to their Create Yourself as a Simpsons Character post.

Second Most Popular Post: Operator 11: The Best Live Video Web Application
Page Views: 720
I got linked to by Robert Scoble and he gave me some traffic that day. If you want more traffic to your blog just linkbait an A-list blogger.

Total Pageviews: 5,021

My Blog Stats Graph

From here on out there are two small changes to the individual post pages. At the bottom of the entry there are links to related posts and recent posts. Hopefully this will increase some awareness of my older posts buried deep in my archive. There is also a single ad next to the links since most of my traffic comes from people being linked directly to an article and not my main blog page. If you read this blog regularly, you will hardly notice a difference.
